In the past two years, God has given John and Christa Tsai the idea of starting an experimental farm as another avenue to outreach to the locals since Kyrgyzstan is primarily an agrarian society - 65% of the people are dependent on agriculture for their livelihood. We purchased land in 2006 and built greenhouses, a laboratory, and classrooms where local farmers and agricultural students would be taught better farming techniques and have practical training. MCCF hopes that through such activities, we can share the Gospel with the farmers who otherwise will have no time nor access to the Good News.
Currently, our farm’s greenhouses allow us to grow a variety of fresh vegetables all year round which was normally not attainable with Kyrgyzstan’s extreme weather fluctuations and primitive farming methods.
In 2008, MCCF started a small chicken farm with 1,500 chickens that produces over 1,000 eggs daily to provide the protein supplement that has been lacking in our children’s diet.
Kyrgyzstan as a nation is experiencing a severe energy/heating shortage. 40% of the population is below poverty level. We fear they will have problems surviving the coming winter. Therefore we are urgently seeking alternative energy sources. In July of 2008, we started experimenting with Bio-Gas technology from China but also need other solutions. If you have any suggestions, we eagerly welcome them.
